How to Add Sparkle to Your Wardrobe Essentials

A few weeks ago, at the start of the holiday season I gave a presentation called “Adding Sparkle to Your Wardrobe Essentials”. The topic is timely as we are now in the middle of holiday pictures and parties, Christmas and Chanukah, and of course coming soon is the most sparkly night of the year, New Year’s Eve. Adding sparkle to your wardrobe is always a good idea, but there’s no better time than now. Beginning with Halloween this season presents us with opportunities to step out, try on a new persona, review our wardrobe essentials, and become brighter shinier or more effervescent versions of ourselves. Here are some ideas to take your wardrobe along with you.

S. A bright scarf ,woven through with one shiny yarn or made completely with gold or silver strands.
P. Fun patterns. They don’t have to be Christmas trees, but quirky or whimsical patterns are a subdued way to add sparkle.
A. Add shine through accessories. Gold and silver, along with diamonds, gemstones or Swarovski crystals are simple to add by wearing jewelry, cuff links, chain link belts, or other accessories.
R. Red, royal blue, and other rich jewel tone colors such as emerald green or periwinkle are an easy way to add sparkle.
K. High contrast. Wearing contrasting colors such as black and white, red with gold or navy with silver can add sparkle to your outfit and you may not need to buy anything new.
L. Lipstick or eye shadow. Makeup comes with a lot of shimmer now, and can be applied as dramatically or subtly as you wish.
E. Embellishments. Sweaters, dresses, blouses an cardigans can all be decorated with crystals or jewel patches in strategic places such as the collar, neckline, sleeves or pocket.

Put one or several of these suggestions into place, and you will surely SPARKLE this season!
